School Games Basketball U12 & U14 Girls
Tuesday 24th January was the U12 Girls and Wednesday 25th January was the U14 Girls Basketball Competition - 4 teams entered on Tuesday, Cavendish, Bridgewater, JFK and Hemel Hempstead, and 3 teams on Wednesday - Cavendish Longdean & JFK The girls played really well across both nights. Congratulations to Bridgewater who won Tuesdays event and will go on to represent Dacorum at the Basketball Finals on Thursday 26th January at Queens School, and to JFK who won Wednesdays event and will represent Dacorum on the 1st February at Wodson Park Thank you also to Cavendish for supplying the venue and the table officials on both nights. DSSN Valentine's Disco
The DSSN has organised a Valentine's Disco for its member schools to help raise funds to deliver sporting opportunities in Dacorum. The Disco will be on Friday 10th February at The Cavendish School. Latest DSSN Newsletter available to download
The end of a busy term has come, and to celebrate all our successes we have published a newsletter with everything that has happened since September - simply download it from the news section - Member schools have special privileges from our sponsors so will need the password to download it. Herts School Games 8th December 2011
This years games started with a bang. Badminton, Table Tennis and Boccia were the activities in this terms event. Woodfield, JFK, Cavendish and Ashlyns represented Dacorum. Cavendish U13 boys can 2nd in the Badminton and Ashlyns U16 girls came 2nd in the Table Tennis. To see more information on the school games visit www.hertsschoolgames.co.uk
DSSN Year 3 and 4 Great Run Competition
15 schools have completed the year 3 and 4 virtual great run for 2011. To see the results click on the competition tab. Congratulations to South Hill and Potten End for winning the district titles.

DSSN Speed Stacking Competition
Last week DSSN held Speed Stacking competitions in 5 Secondary schools, JFK, Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, Longdean and Bridgewater. Schools from across the district competed against each other in both the 3-3-3 stack and the 3-6-3. Victoria first school came out overall winners and will represent Dacorum at the Herts School Games in March. For full results see the competition tab.
DSSN Teacher Training Day
On Thursday 17th November DSSN in conjunction with St Albans Sports Network ran a teacher training day. Attendance was low, and a number of sessions had to be cancelled. Foundation Stage and KS1 teachers had the opportunity to try out Miltons Big Games, and Dance. All teachers went away with free resources for both. The afternoon saw KS2 teachers participate in High Five netball and Dance, and again staff went away with resources for both activities. Another event will happen in February focusing on different activities.
DSSN Young Ambassadors Conference 2011
On Wednesday 16th November I took our 3 Gold Ambassadors and 1 Platinum Ambassador to Twickenham Stadium for a days training with other Ambassdors from across the region. The day was an inspiration to our Ambassadors who got the chance to meet Jonathan Edwards, Michelle Robinson, Adam Whitehead, and several other Olympic and Paralympic athletes. The three Gold Ambassadors from Ashlyns School, Clare Scoot, Joshua Hart and Ailish Brown will now be delivering a local conference to Dacorum Adistars to support them in delivering competitions within their schools. Clare, Josh and Ailish will be supported by India Pipes from JFK who is this years Mentor.
DSSN Year 2 Sports Fayre
The first of this years year 2 sports fayres took place on Monday 14th November. The event sponsored by sportspace was a huge success with over 250 pupils participating throughout the day in activities such as Athletics, Taget Games, Aerobics, Speed Stacking, Tri Golf, Multi Skills, Crazy Catch, and Dance. Participation vertificates can be downloaded from the Competitions tab.
Dacorum District Cross Country
This years event supported by Longdean School took place on Thursday 10th November. The weather was kind, and several schools braved the 2km run for the chance of being crowned District Winners. Bridgewater Middle School came out on top winning both the Boys, Girls and Overall trophies. Results can be downloaded from the competition tab.
Dacorum School Games Badminton Competitions
Badminton Competitions took place on the 7th and 8th November for U14 and U16 girls and boys. JFK, Cavendish and Hemel Hempstead schools took part with Cavendish being the winners for the U14 boys and JFK taking the trophies for U14 girls and U16 girls and boys. Both schools will go through to represent Dacorum at the Herts School Games on the 8th December.
Dacorum School Sports Network Teacher Training Day
Dacorum School Sports Network is once again hosting a teacher training day to be held on 17th November at Hemel Hempstead Sportspace. You can find the booking form in Downloads, Network letters. Please remember it is password protected.
Dacorum School Sports Network Cross Country Competition
The Dacorum School Sports Network Competitions were held in October. Four different events were held. JFK, Astley Cooper, Cavendish and Longdean all hosted an event for schools in the network. Results can be downloaded from the competitions tab, and a participation certificate.
Dacorum School Games Table Tennis Competition
The first Dacorum School Games Competition was held at the beginning of October, hosted at the Cavendish School. For all the results click on the competition tab and go to School Games.
Dacorum Headteachers Conference a Huge Success!
The first of the DSSN headteachers conferences was a huge success. The conference on 11th October 2011 at Little Hay Golf Club was attended by 50% of the schools in the network.
